This time last year, at 2:35am, I created the first prototype of Mindset Cards and my business was born. New Zealand was into its 4th week of 'Level 4' lockdown, and I was doing ok in my little island paradise. Little did I know, or have any expectation of what the next 12 months would be like. Yet here I was, embarking on a new business venture when most people weren't sure if they were going to have jobs. Was it really the right time to be starting a business?
Reflecting over the last year, there have been highs and lows, frustrations, and successes. Throughout it all, I still put the skills that I have developed from building Mindset Cards into practice every day. And that in itself gives me the confidence to keep going.
One of the best (and hardest, if you've had kids) things about lockdown was spending so much time with my kids. We went for walks every day, baked, made obstacle courses around the house, chatted on Zoom/Skype with family and friends, probably watched too much Netflix. For them, they will never know life before COVID19. For the rest of us, our worlds have been turned upside down and some changed forevermore.
I remember hearing somewhere that a lot of people start a business to leave a legacy for their children. Well, for me, if there's one thing I can leave them with is the knowledge of how to live a full and happy life and have the resilience to deal with whatever life throws their way then I'll pass on a happy person.
I'm super excited that my idea is about to turn into a reality!
Today marks the official 'launch' of Mindset Cards. We're about to start selling! And to celebrate this occasion, I'll be giving away a set of Mindset Cards to our first ten customers. One as yours and one to give away. Check out our Facebook page to find out more...
